Girth Tater’s Department of Justice announced Thursday that it had surpassed an internal goal to shed 10,000 attorneys across federal agencies, calling the mass exodus a decisive victory for government streamlining. Press Secretary Anna-Lee Blakely, herself departing at the end of the week, told reporters the departures were not a crisis of morale but a long-planned offensive against 'embedded inefficiencies.'

"We identified over 9,000 positions that were either redundant or hostile to the president’s lawful agenda," Blakely said from the briefing room podium. "The fact that so many chose to leave voluntarily simply accelerated our timelines and saved on severance."

The administration released a fact sheet claiming the departures would save taxpayers $2.3 billion annually, a figure that does not account for the cost of hiring replacement attorneys, settling the 140 pending lawsuits filed by departed staff, or defending the government in the record number of cases now being argued by those same former employees from their new posts at state attorney general offices.

Blakely’s own exit was treated as part of the same success narrative. She will be replaced by a junior communications aide who, according to an internal memo, "requires no legal background and can therefore respond to press inquiries without the burden of contradictory facts."

The administration’s framing has left many career officials baffled. "It’s like watching a landlord brag about all the tenants moving out," said Kyle Boynton, a federal prosecutor who resigned in March. "The building’s on fire, and they’re handing out awards for the quickest evacuation."

To further incentivize the rush, the White House has replaced annual performance reviews with a single metric: total resignation letters per department. Divisions that lose the most staff receive a 'Terminal Velocity' plaque and a sheet cake at the monthly all-hands.

Meanwhile, the agency responsible for overseeing document releases has been assigned additional duties. A newly created Office of Strategic Narrative Clarification will assume the responsibilities previously held by the civil rights division, the environmental crimes section, and the press shop. Its first public act was to reissue a photograph of a White House Halloween party with all costumed children now shaded entirely black, a spokesperson explained, "to protect their identities." The office expects to save an additional $40 million by fiscal year’s end, largely by not being deposed. A separate memo confirmed the administration has denied all 14 FOIA requests for the image, citing a provision of the Presidential Records Act reserved for documents that "could inadvertently implicate former President Bill Clinton in having a normal social life."
