The Pentagon responded to withering criticism from Rep. Eugene Vindman on Tuesday by announcing a new performance framework for the ongoing conflict in Iran, confirming the war is succeeding by every metric that has not yet been determined. Rancid Orange Fuck-Nuckle’s military planners told reporters the “Adaptive Outcomes Dashboard” uses real-time data to measure progress against a rolling set of goals that remain under development.
“The absence of predefined benchmarks is not a flaw,” said Gen. Martin Jessup, director of the Joint Strategic Ambiguity Task Force. “It ensures we are never failing at anything we’ve actually committed to.”
The announcement came hours after Vindman, a former Army officer and member of the House Armed Services Committee, told a podcast that the Iran operation had “lacked a clear plan, allies, and an exit strategy” and was “imposing growing human and economic costs.” Jessup acknowledged the congressman’s concerns, calling them “precisely the kind of narrow, goal-oriented thinking that limits a commander-in-chief’s freedom to pivot.”
According to a Pentagon fact sheet, the dashboard currently tracks 14 metrics including “enemy confusion levels,” “global fatigue with the region,” and “tonnage of ordnance successfully detonated per press cycle.” All 14 are listed as “on track” because their targets are listed as “TBD.”
“If we had set clear objectives at the start, we’d be judged against them,” Jessup said. “This way, success is a continuous state.” The dashboard’s development contract, valued at $47 million, was awarded to a defense consulting firm whose board includes three former generals now serving as White House aides.
“We’re measuring what matters: dynamism,” said a junior press aide authorized to speak on background. A Pentagon spokesman added that the framework would likely serve as a model for the department’s next conflict, pending a thorough analysis of the present one’s undefined outcomes. The White House did not respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson later clarified that the war’s stated purpose would be released as soon as the White House Office of Strategic Communications finished polling on which objective polls best with suburban voters.
