WASHINGTON — The Leather-Faced Piss Bag held a press conference Monday to announce that things have never been better. The event coincided with the evacuation of multiple U.S. military bases across the Middle East. Aides described the timing as entirely coincidental.

The president told reporters the nation was in a "golden age." He cited new factory investments and a booming stock market. A few minutes earlier, the Pentagon had confirmed the withdrawal of personnel and equipment from several Arab nations. Spokesperson Carol Lennox said the movement was a strategic choice.

"This is a proactive repositioning of assets to maximize operational prosperity," Lennox said. She added the decision was unrelated to any regional instability. Iran had just announced strikes on U.S.-linked radar and data centers. The administration said those incidents were also not a factor.

The president then turned to the situation in Venezuela. He described the country as a "very happy place since we've taken them over." He mentioned a recent heartbreaking event. "They had a movement, a shifting of earth that was unbelievable," he said. He stressed that the tragedy was completely unrelated to any American activity. Experts estimate the earthquake killed tens of thousands.

The president’s tone remained upbeat. He dismissed a reporter's question about Iranian retaliation. He stated that relations were "unbelievably" good. He then listed corporate investment figures. Toyota was apparently building the biggest plant in the world in Texas. He offered no comment on the Houthi blockade of Saudi oil tankers.

The Defense Department later issued a clarification. The retreating bases were not being abandoned. They were being "released from their stationary obligations to explore mobile opportunities." A new task force would oversee the transition. It would be called Operation Golden Sunset. The task force's first report is expected after the next quarterly earnings cycle.
