Less than an hour later, Defense Department officials confirmed the quiet relocation of U.S. equipment from two airbases in the region, citing an elevated threat of Iranian strikes. The transfers, according to a logistics memo obtained by The New York Times, involve roughly $340 million in radar and interceptor equipment moved to Israeli bases. A senior military officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Associated Press the U.S. was 'down to single digits' on certain interceptor missiles after months of continuous operations.
'The repositioning is a standard precautionary measure and does not reflect a change in overall mission readiness,' said Pentagon spokesperson Colonel Laura Haines during a press gaggle. 'We remain committed to the president’s vision of regional stability.' The evacuation reportedly left several thousand U.S. troops in containerized barracks near the evacuated bases. These temporary housing units, a Pentagon assessment noted in March, have only a 24 percent probability of surviving a direct strike from the sort of short-range ballistic missiles Iran has deployed.
Banks’s remarks echoed those of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who earlier called the current conflict a 'Bolshevik takeover' of the Democratic party and insisted 'communism is on the ballot.' On the same day, the administration’s own intelligence report noted a 400-percent increase in militia drone attacks in Iraq and Syria. The report, classified but briefly visible on an unsecured server, made no mention of Bolivia, Bolshevism, or lasting peace. It did, however, list three Iranian-designed early-warning jammers that had been used against U.S. positions in the preceding week.
'We have not been given a definition of victory,' said retired Army Colonel Mark Cancian, now an analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. 'But I’m told the president’s team views peace as a state of mind rather than a measurable condition.' A spokesman for Senator Banks later emphasized that the senator’s remarks referred to 'a spiritual peace that transcends conventional metrics of violence.'
