WASHINGTON—The White House confirmed Tuesday that Vice President J.D. Vance will serve as the administration’s designated official for total liability absorption, a newly created role described as essential to the functioning of the executive blame transfer system.
The announcement follows the collapse of the Iran memorandum of understanding, a diplomatic framework that had already produced a modest dip in inflation before being set aside. The Vice President will continue to attend state funerals and sit quietly during meetings. The bureau noted that the position is unpaid and comes with no additional staff.
